Presentation Abstract

TechBridgeWorld faculty and staff M. Bernardine Dias, Sarah Belousov, and Freddie Dias traveled to Sub-Saharan Africa this summer to explore new partnerships in Tanzania and launch new projects in Zambia in collaboration with local partners. During their 3 weeks in Mongu, Zambia, through a partnership with the non-profit organization ProjectEDUCATE, they introduced the newest version of the braille writing tutor to teachers at the Sefula School for the Visually Impaired, developed computing curriculum guides for primary school teachers with Imwiko Basic School and explored the feasibility of utilizing an automated English reading tutor with school children at Mulambwa Basic School.

TechBridgeWorld is expanding opportunities for students to conduct projects in collaboration with partners in Africa. Come learn about their experiences in Mongu and the challenges and opportunities of conducting field work in developing communities.
